April Resident of the Month
April 10, 2025
At Huntington Woods, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on an incredible resident who has touched the hearts of many — Bernadette Brooks, our April Resident of the Month!
Born on October 18, 1950, in Washington, D.C., Bernadette grew up with her loving parents, Edward and Novella, and two brothers. Life taught her strength early on, as she took on a motherly role after the passing of a parent, helping raise her younger siblings. Her brother Tony sweetly shares,
“She was the best sister ever.”
Bernadette graduated from Roosevelt High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in teaching from D.C. Teachers College. While she didn’t pursue a classroom career, her path led her to a long and fulfilling journey in healthcare administration. She worked in the billing department at George Washington Hospital for over two decades before finishing her career at Washington Children's Hospital, where she eventually retired.
Just last year, Bernadette made the move to Ohio to be closer to her brother and now enjoys being an aunt and great-aunt to five beloved nieces and nephews.
Her favorite things? Motown music, singing in her church choir, dancing, bowling with family, and a good plate of fried chicken and green beans — followed by her all-time favorite dessert, chocolate cake with chocolate frosting! Bernadette brings joy, laughter, and light to everyone around her.
Congratulations, Bernadette! We are so lucky to have you as part of the Huntington Woods family.
